Yanaba Begaye is of the Big Medicine People born for the Cliff Dwelling Clan. She is a full-time nurse and part-time activist against big business interests on the Navajo Nation where she lives. Her now deceased husband of two years was investigated as a terrorist by agencies of the United States government. Along with her family and close friends all continue to be the focus of intense surveillance by the Federal Bureau of Investigations and other intelligence sources most people have never heard of.
Through a friend, Dan Sanchez, who is a private investigator she meets and ultimately falls in love with Rick Davis, a former F.B.I. agent, who convinces her that in order to win the war you must first fight the battles. Together, with the help of family and friends they devise a strategy to meet the government on their own turf.
Expecting a fight reminiscent of the Battle of the Greasy Grass, (Battle of the Little Bighorn), the government learns that Yanaba's newly formed company, Tribal Industries Group, has developed a surveillance and tracking system that exceeds what the government considered state of the art.
